The Senior Design Expo allows undergraduate engineering students to showcase their innovative projects from across all five departments: biomedical; civil, architectural and environmental; electrical and computer; industrial; and mechanical and aerospace.
The Capstone Project provides students with the challenge of working with real-world, open-ended, interdisciplinary projects proposed by industrial and research project sponsors. They learn and apply the engineering process: defining functional requirements, conceptualization, analysis, identifying risks and countermeasures, selection, as well as physical prototyping.
Held in April, interdisciplinary teams under the guidance of faculty and industry professionals display and pitch inventions, process and prototypes with a focus on marketability to a panel of judges, invited guests, media, and their peers, while competing for prizes. This is an excellent opportunity for Capstone Project Sponsors to see how projects have evolved from concept to product by the teams at the expo.
