Below you will find commonly asked questions and troubleshooting techniques regarding College of Engineer Virtual Lab.

General

  • Can I connect off campus?

    Yes, the Virtual Lab is accessible off campus. You may connect from home, coffee shop, or any where with a high speed internet bandwith.

  • Do all students have access?

    No, the CoE Virtual Lab Desktop Applications are exclusive to College of Engineering students and faculty. All other students do have access to Web Publish apps Excel and Access.

  • Do I need to install anything to access the virtual environment?

    Yes, you will need to install the latest Citrix Workspace client on your system. The links to the installation files are found on the main portal (https://coe.miami.edu/virtuallab)

  • How do I save my work?

    Save your work to:

    1) Your local drive under This PC > Local Disk: (C: on COMPUTER NAME) > Users > username > Documents

    2) Temporarily save to the virtual machine desktop and upload file to a cloud storage of your choice.

    SAVE PERIODICALLY TO AVOID LOST WORK!!!!!!

  • How do I open my existing files?

    Open your file(s) by:

    1) Navigating to your local drive under This PC > Local Disk: (C: on COMPUTER NAME) > Users > username > Find folder in which your files are located in your drive.

    ** You should receive a pop requesitng access to your local drive on first attempt. Select Read/Write from the options.**

    2) Open your cloud storage solution and download you file to the virtual desktop. Periodically save your work and upload a updated version to your cloud storage. Box and OneDrive shortcuts available on the desktop.
