Through this thrust we will conduct interdisciplinary research that would bring together expertise from throughout the College of Engineering and include key collaborators from other units of the University including the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, Miller School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Architecture, School of Law, and Business School.

These units provide a depth of scientific expertise in oceanic and climate processes, human health and toxicology, chemistry, biology and physics, along with an understanding of urban systems, built infrastructure and the legal and economic systems within which society operates.  Collaboration is a key to our success bringing together researchers from throughout the University to address key problems that address ever increasing needs in energy while maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment.
